I have two passions in life, music and social network marketing. Well, three if you count the Houston Astros. What I love most about music is that it is the ultimate social network. Have you ever sat back at a show with 65,000 people there and wondered why each of those people came? At the end of the day, it is because they all connect with the music on one level or another. And that is an amazing, powerful tool that should be harnessed in any way possible. Thankfully all of the tools are at our… Continue

Yesterday I made an impromptu trip to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. My love for amusement parks knows no bounds, for not only do I love roller coasters, but they are the breeding grounds for all things that are wrong with this country. We encountered something in Kentucky Kingdom that was so… Continue

"comcastcares @grovesa16 the problem is probably something else, Yes there is compression, but it uses an advanced multi pass technology"
Here's your problem, Comcast. You're trying to cram more than will fit on the bandwidth you have available, so you compress the shit out of it, and then use words like "multi" and "technology" to make me feel warm and fuzzy. Enjoy having your ass beat by FiOS because you are too lazy and complacent to upgrade your network… Continue

Colin Meloy Sings Live! - Lead singer of The Decemberists tackles some of their songs in guitar/vocal fashion. Even though the arrangements are always fantastic, hearing them stripped down is pretty damn good too.
30 Rock - Every week Tina Fey tosses out the best show on tv. There are new jokes to find on even the fourth and fifth pass. I wish everyone on the planet watched this show so that I could rip off all of it's joke… Continue

This morning as I was walking out to my car, I noticed that our backyard had suddenly disappeared, and in it's place lay the remnants of 4 trees.
I figured out how to crawl around them somehow and this is what it looks like from behind...

Anyone who knows me knows that next to music, sports is my life. And since we don't have a pro baseball team, and minor leauge baseball is only fun when the beers are $1, I started to follow the hockey team. The Preds began the same year I moved here, so I've had fun over the years slowly learning about the game and the team. Most people don't share in my fun though, which found me having to buy a single ticket to game 4 of the first round of the playoffs this week.
And I was pretty much OK wit… Continue

John Adams - Yup, still loving John Adams. What will I have to look forward to doing Mondays after work when this is over?
Hilldog drinking like a real human - Saw footage of Hillary doing a shot of Crown over the weekend and chasing it with some sort of Miller Lite looking beer. The Fox News commentary was of course 100% pure gold, and according to them Hilldog enjoys the Blue Moon. I bet… Continue

With TV on hiatus for so damn long, I've been vary lax in writing for the places I normally write and need to get back into the swing of things. I wanted to start a weekly post on this blog to force me to write at least once a week as well as give me a soapbox my ego so desperately wants. No one loves to negatively rant more than myself, so to counterbalance my severe negativity issues, I give you the weekly L… Continue

That my friends, is a $275 bill from Blue Cross stating that my coverage no longer includes "wellness" exams and that I must pay 100% out of pocket for a physical, pap smear and cholesterol testing. TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS. To check and make sure I'm not sick. I really don't think I've been as mad in my life as I am at this moment.
Pretty soon, he's not going to want to hang out with us. And by "us", I mean the plebs of the world. Dan already had major autism breakthroughs, now schizophrenia, I say he should cure cancer next. Chop, chop. Continue

"In 2006 EMI, the world's fourth-biggest recorded-music company, invited some teenagers into its headquarters in London to talk to its top managers about their listening habits. At the end of the session the EMI bosses thanked them for their comments and told them to help themselves to a big pile of CDs sitting on a table. But none of the teens took any of the CDs, even though they were free. “That was the moment we realised the game was completely up,” says a person who was there."

The fact that "In Rainbows" sold close to 130,000 physical copies after being available months beforehand online was facinating to me, given the fact that Radiohead's fan base is mostly (I would assume) digital savvy. Their last record out in 2003 sold roughly 300k which begs the question...has digital proliferation reached only half of a (presumably) educated music buying public, did people buy a copy online as well as a physical copy, or are album sales really that shitty these days? Well we a… Continue

Not even remotely a "Best Of '07" list since I really didn't hear all that much new music this year, here's what I really enjoyed listening to over the last twelve months.
